Objective and approach
Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC), one of Melbourne’s leading girls’ schools, was seeking an experienced storytelling partner to conceive and produce an enduring suite of video assets that reflected the school’s character and values.
The videos would need to achieve multiple purposes at once:
- Recruiting boarding families and staff
- Showcasing the breadth of a PLC education
- Marking a significant institutional milestone
Content Empire was engaged for a six-month production delivering four distinct stories – a ‘Day in the Life of PLC Boarding’, ‘Working at PLC’, an overarching Brand video, and a 150th anniversary celebration.
Shared guiding principles were developed up front to keep the suite feeling like one family of videos, even though each had a different brief and audience.
For Boarding at PLC, Year 10 boarding student Sophie became the film’s narrator and guide, taking viewers through a day in her boarding life – from morning routines and classes, to study, dinner and lights out. Careful storyboarding and scripting captured her voice authentically, creating a video warm and uplifting enough to serve two audiences at once: prospective boarding families browsing the website, and the international families who make up a large proportion of the boarding house.
Working at PLC brought together five staff members from the Early Learning Centre, Junior School and Senior School to speak about their experience teaching at PLC – a film designed to double as both a recruitment tool and a showcase of the school as a workplace of choice and world-leading educational facility.
The Brand video draws on footage captured across the ELC, Junior School, Senior School and Boarding House; woven together through three student voices that authentically tell the full PLC story across an arc of belonging, learning, growth and leadership, and faith and legacy. It now serves as the hero video on the school’s website homepage.
To mark PLC’s 150th anniversary in 2025, Content Empire blended archival footage and photography with newly filmed material, paired with a specially written script built around the motif of light – “150 years of inspiring women, shaping character, and lighting the way” – to tell the story of the school’s history as a living, ongoing legacy rather than a static timeline. This was used as the centrepiece of the school’s community celebration.

RESULTS
Across six months and five days of location filming – spanning interviews, to-camera narration, b-roll and carefully selected music – Content Empire delivered a cohesive suite of video assets for PLC: a ‘Growing through Boarding’ videonow featured on the school’s website and used as a recruitment tool for international families, a Working at PLC staff video supporting recruitment and culture, an overarching Brand video now serving as PLC’s website hero banner, and a 150th anniversary film marking one of the school’s most significant milestones.
Though produced independently and for different purposes, each film shares the same storytelling discipline: real members of the PLC community, speaking in their own words, about a school they know and love. Powerful, authentic voices elevate the videos above ‘just’ marketing collateral. They convey the school’s lived values to a prospective boarding family, a future teacher, or a member of the school community watching the 150th film.
The final video suite gives PLC a flexible, reusable video library it can draw on across its website, recruitment, boarding and community channels for years to come.
